That is why the city of Heilbronn and Heilbronn Marketing GmbH (HMG) have drawn up a five-point plan in coordination with the Heilbronn city initiative.

“The third wave is again causing uncertainty as to how the corona pandemic will continue. Nevertheless, due to the progressive vaccinations and the steadily increasing number of test options, I am optimistic that further easing will soon be possible. As soon as this is the case, we want to provide the necessary tailwind with a package of measures, a power pack for the city center, retail and gastronomy, in order to overcome the effects of the pandemic and to revitalize the city center quickly, ”explained Mayor Harry Mergel. 1.4 million euros are to flow into short-term measures, 2.6 million euros in medium and long-term.

The five-point plan includes the topics “Strengthening the quality of stay in the city center”, “Mobility package”, “Gastronomy”, “Heilbronn Marketing GmbH” and “Kulturbunte Stadt”. In addition, the city is planning a congress on “The future of our inner city” in autumn, at which all important aspects of future inner city development will be examined. “The aim is to receive suggestions, additional concrete instruments and measures for the further development and attractiveness of the Heilbronn city center,” said Mayor Mergel.

The quality of stay in the city center is to be strengthened, for example, through numerous greening campaigns.

In addition to the lush plant decorations in the city center, the newly created city garden, which should be officially handed over to the citizenship in April if possible, as well as the renewed play area in Sülmerstrasse in front of the K3, especially for families with small children, are intended to bring life to life. As in the previous year, the catering trade should benefit from a shorter closing time in the city center and the suburb of the train station. The city of Heilbronn supports the printing of a “trade newspaper” as an advertising medium for retail, catering and services with 10,000 euros. Heilbronn Marketing GmbH is also flanking the re-entry after the lockdown with a bundle of measures. A new edition of the “Heilbronn ist Kult” series of events is planned. This year the education campus and the machine factory cultural center will be added.
