According to a statement by the mayor of Greenwood on Facebook, the gunman, whose identity has not yet been released, was shot and killed by an armed passer-by in the mall. Whoever took out the shooter is a 22-year-old man from Bartholomew County.

Motive unknown
A team from the explosives clearance service searched the shopping center after the shooting, because an abandoned backpack was found in one of the toilets.
No explosives were found, according to local broadcaster WRTV. It is not yet clear what the shooter’s motive was.
