The safe, measuring three by one and a half meters, is designed to store jewelry, luxurious outfits and documents.
“It is unclear how the owner of the house, where the find was found, earned his living. But it is clear that it was probably a wealthy family, because the area of the house is about 3386 square meters, with 15 rooms, including bathrooms and a kitchen, as well as four more rooms, “- noted the archaeologists.
An artifact covered with bronze and precious metals, and the structure of the villa dates back to the late 1st and early 2nd centuries.
Archaeologists first found the safe back in 1994, but then it was mothballed for maximum savings in its original form.
At the same time, today the chest is well preserved. It is noted that the wooden frame, bronze decor and some decorations are in perfect condition.
The researchers added that such treasures were often found in living rooms. And so that they would not be stolen, the safes were fastened to the wall or floor with nails.
