Formula E introduces a completely new logo and branding for the arrival of the Gen3 era.
Formula E will launch its groundbreaking third-generation car on January 14 in Mexico City, with a new identity and logo “inspired by the instantaneous torque of electric acceleration”.
“At the heart of the new system is a torque ring which represents the excitement and energy at the heart of the brand and the sport,” said Formula E.
“This self-contained loop is the source of new logos, typography, and brand new animation principles.”
The Formula E rebranding will be rolled out over the coming days, weeks and months, building on Formula E’s digital assets, including a website and app to enhance the fan experience.
However, in addition to the revamped visual identity, the series is also planning a “completely new sonic identity” for Formula E, with new Gen3 car sounds integrated into the “new broadcast title music and full broadcast soundtrack”. .
Competitively, Formula E Season 9 will see the debut of two new teams McLaren and Maserati based on their Mercedes EQ and Venturi respectively.
The 2022/23 Formula E calendar runs from 14 January to 30 July, with Hyderabad, India (Round 4, 11 February), Cape Town, South Africa (Round 5, 25 February) and Brazil, Sao Paulo (Round 6, March 25) in three new cities.
A change to the series’ sporting rules will allow rookie drivers to participate in FP1 sessions throughout the season, and there will also be a 4 kWh “Attack Charge” boost for 30 seconds in certain races.
Finally, the race will once again be run in number of laps instead of a set time.
