Formula 1: He left the four-time world champion team out of jealousy

The 66-year-old ex-contestant in the daily L’Équipe said Laurent Rossin, who had taken over as the team’s managing director a year ago, felt he wanted to decide everything alone and wanted no one to influence him.

“The various relationships became more complicated and I felt an increasing degree of jealousy,” Prost said.

The French specialist has been working as a barn consultant since 2017, but says there has been a recent desire to “set aside as many people as possible.”

“Laurent Rossi wants to shine alone in the limelight, but I’ve always been interested in being a member of a team where I can be heard and involved in making certain decisions,” Prost said, adding that

working is no longer a pleasure when “the boss doesn’t even say hello when he comes to the race track.”

“There’s no more respect, and it can’t work that way anymore,” F1 World Champion Prost in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993 declared.

Renault has been present again as a factory team in Formula One since 2016, taking the Alpine name last season. The barn was recently resigned from team boss Marcin Budkowski, whose successor is said to be Otmar Szafnauer, who is leaving Aston Martin in early January.

Last year, Alpine was fifth in the constructors’ World Cup points race, and the two-time World Cup winner Fernando Alonso was 10th in the individual ranking, and Esteban Ocon, who won the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, was 11th.
