The government is starting to build the world’s largest system semiconductor cluster in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do.
It is a mega project that focuses on fostering high-tech industries by designating 15 national industrial complexes nationwide, including Yongin.

The government has unveiled a large-scale project to create a high-tech industrial complex.
First of all, by 2042, we will attract 300 trillion won of private investment in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province to build the world’s largest semiconductor cluster.
The scale is 7.1 million square meters, and it is an idea to build five high-tech semiconductor manufacturing plants and increase the size along with the existing semiconductor production complexes in Giheung, Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Icheon.

In addition to Yongin, 14 high-tech industrial complexes will be created across the country to create a huge high-tech ecosystem.
In the Chungcheong region, Daejeon, Cheonan, and Honam regions, Gwangju and Goheung, were selected as four candidates, and in the Gyeongnam region, Changwon, Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, Daegu and Andong, and Gangneung.
Each region will promote different key industries such as aerospace, hydrogen, future vehicles, and food.
The total area of the industrial complex is 40.76 million square meters, which is the largest among industrial complexes designated by the previous government.
The Ministry of Industry, in particular, set the goal of becoming the world’s No. 1 in the manufacturing of displays, secondary batteries, and biopharmaceuticals, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport promised to lift various regulations.

The government plans to link this project with private investment of 550 trillion won in six high-tech industries planned by 2026.
