TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida State University’s golf programs have gained a meaningful boost with the hiring of Brandon Smith as an assistant coach, announced by Director of Golf Trey Jones and Head women’s Golf Coach Amy Bond. Smith,a decorated golfer from his time at Texas A&M University, will uniquely support both the men’s and women’s teams.
Smith’s appointment brings a wealth of experience to the Seminole programs. He was a key player for the Aggies from 2017-2021, contributing to two remarkable fifth-place finishes at the NCAA Championships in both 2018 and 2019.

“Brandon checked all the boxes we were looking for,” stated Jones. “He’ll be instrumental in recruiting, mentoring, and developing our players to reach their full potential. His recent experience as a professional player and caddie has given him a deep understanding of the skills, mental fortitude, and long-term focus needed to succeed at the highest levels.”
Bond echoed Jones’ enthusiasm, adding, “We are thrilled to add Brandon to our staff. His experience as a successful college player and his recent work on the Korn Ferry Tour will be a tremendous asset to our program.”
Smith expressed his gratitude for the chance, stating, “I want to thank Coach Jones and Coach Bond for this special opportunity at Florida state. I’m excited to learn from their experience and contribute to the strong traditions of both programs.”
