Former Sergeant Byun Hee-soo (23, photo), who was forced to discharge after undergoing a sex change operation from male to female during military service, was found dead at home on the 3rd. According to the Sangdang Police Station in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, 119 paramedics found a sergeant Byeon, who was hiding in the house of Sangdang-gu, around 5:49 pm on the same day. Sang-gu’s mental health center reported it to 119, wondering that the contact had been cut off since the 28th of last month. The police believe that a few days have passed since his death because he was postponed as the body of Sergeant Byun.

Sergeant Byeon returned from overseas after undergoing sex change surgery on vacation in November 2019 while serving in the military. Since then, he has been hoping to serve in the military, but based on the results of a mandatory investigation on the changes in the body of Sergeant Byeon, the military made a decision of the 3rd degree of mental and physical disability, and in January of last year, forced to discharge. In August of last year, Sergeant Byeon filed a lawsuit against the Chief of Staff of the Army in the Daejeon District Law requesting the cancellation of disposition.
