Ex president Russia Dmitry Medvedev calling for the possibility of nuclear war if International Criminal Court (ICC) takes steps to punish Moscow for alleged war crimes in Ukraine. ICC is known to be investigating allegations war crimes in the invasion of Ukraine.
“The idea of punishing a country that has the largest nuclear arsenal is simply absurd,” said Medvedev, who is a close ally of the president. Vladimir Putinin a statement via Telegram, as reported by AFPWednesday (6/7/2022).
“And potentially create a threat to the existence of mankind,” he stressed.
Medvedev, who served as President of Russia from 2008-2012, now serves as Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council.
He further accused the United States of wanting to put Russia before an international tribunal, while the United States itself has never faced punishment for the war it initiated itself, which according to Medvedev, has killed 20 million people worldwide.
“The entire history of America, from the oppression of the Indians, was a bloody war of extermination,” Medvedev said of the Native Americans.
Since Putin ordered the dispatch of Russian troops to Ukraine on February 24, Medvedev has regularly made statements and made comments via social media to attack Western countries and those critical of Moscow.
