-A court in Paris, France, sentenced former French President Nicolas Sarkozy (66, photo) to one year in prison and two years probation on charges of buying a judge, the Associated Press and CNN reported on the 1st (local time). According to CNN, the court ordered former President Sarkozy to wear an electronic bracelet and detain his home.
Former President Sarkozy, who was in office from 2007 to 2012, went to trial on charges of promising a job in Monaco after retirement to Gilbert Agiber, then Supreme Judge, in order to obtain investigation information on his suspicion of receiving illegal political funds before the 2007 presidential election Handed over.
