Former President Donald Trump Charged with Seven Counts Stemming from Espionage Act, Says Lawyer

Donald Trump’s lawyer, Jim Trusty, confirmed on Thursday evening that the former president had been charged with seven counts and said the charges “steered from the Espionage Act.”

Direct speech: “There is some wording in it that suggests that there will be seven charges. It’s not 100% clear that they are all separate charges, but they mostly stem from the Espionage Act charge.”

Details: The Trusty called the espionage allegations “ludicrous” and added that there are also “several obstruction and perjury charges.”

He said his team did not receive a copy of the indictment, but received a subpoena by email.

The trustee also confirmed that Trump would appear in court on Tuesday, but did not say which lawyers would be present with the former president.
