Krefeld. The former director of the Burg Linn Museum, Dr. Christoph Reichmann, celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday, May 14th. As a young archaeologist, he took up a position as a research assistant in Linn in 1981 and initially managed the house on a deputy or provisional basis for years. He was appointed director in 1996 and retired in 2016.

Christoph Reichmann was born in 1950 in Haldern, today the city of Rees in the district of Kleve. After graduating from high school in Gaesdonk, he studied prehistory and early history at the University of Münster. He then took part in excavations by the State Museum in Bonn of Bronze Age settlements near Bocholt and Telgte. In Krefeld, he concentrated on researching the Roman fort at the Lower German Limes, which is to be recognized as a World Heritage Site in 2021. He also uncovered the Roman temple district in Elfrath, uncovered the floor plans of the old church in Linn on Margaretenplatz and found the even older church on Lake Römers in an open field. Reichmann was awarded the Albert Steeger Scholarship by the Rhineland Regional Association in 1989. He is the author and editor of numerous specialist articles and publications and was involved in such as a co-author and editor. He still supports the archaeological work of the Burg Linn Museum.
