Former KGB Agent Arrested Over Missile Attack Kills 50 Ukrainian Soldiers

security service Ukraine claimed to have arrested a former agent KGB, the Soviet-era security service, on its territory. The former KGB agent is accused of helping direct the missile attack Russia which killed dozens of Ukrainian soldiers at a military facility in the west of the country in March.

As reported ReutersWednesday (29/6/2022), the identity of the Russian agent who is also a former KGB agent who was arrested by Ukraine was not revealed to the public.

But the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) and local prosecutors said in a statement that the suspect had sent a number of target locations at the Yavoriv military training center to contacts within Russian agencies that were not named, using the messaging app Telegram.

“As a result of the rocket attack on the Yavoriv training site, more than 50 personnel were killed, and nearly 150 others were injured,” the SBU said in a statement on Tuesday (28/6) local time.

The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the suspect, who hails from the city of Lviv, is currently in detention and is being investigated on charges of treason.

There has been no response from the Russian government to this Ukrainian report.
