McDowell Piloting Kaulig’s No. 11 at Watkins Glen

Kaulig Racing Taps Daytona 500 Winner for Xfinity Series Start

Kaulig Racing is turning to experienced NASCAR Cup Series driver Michael McDowell to pilot their No. 11 Chevrolet at Watkins Glen International this weekend. This marks McDowell’s first Xfinity Series start in nine years.

New Driver for the No. 11

Following their split with Josh Williams, Kaulig Racing enlisted Carson Hocevar for the recent Iowa Speedway event. Now, the team has secured the talents of Michael McDowell, a veteran of the Cup Series with Spire Motorsports and a former Daytona 500 champion.

McDowell’s Return to Xfinity

Michael McDowell last competed in the Xfinity Series in 2016, securing a victory at Road America. His upcoming appearance at Watkins Glen will be his first in the series since 2009, breaking a nine-year hiatus from the division.

Upcoming Driver Lineup for Kaulig Racing

The team’s strategy of bringing in drivers from Spire Motorsports continues. Two weeks from now at Daytona International Speedway, Justin Haley is scheduled to rejoin Kaulig Racing, where he previously competed full-time in the Xfinity Series from 2019 to 2021.

Michael McDowell has no prior racing history with Kaulig Racing. His best finish at Watkins Glen International in the Cup Series is sixth place across 16 starts.

Race fans can catch the Mission 200 at The Glen live on The CW Network this Saturday, August 9, starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.
