Former Ambulance Employee Arrested for $1M Theft in Illinois

Former MedStar Ambulance Employee Accused of⁣ Stealing Over $1 million

Sparta, IL – A former‌ employee of MedStar Ambulance in southern Illinois has been arrested and faces multiple felony ⁤charges following allegations of theft exceeding ‍$1,000,000, according too​ the Randolph ‌County Sheriff’s Office.

Carrie J. Kelley, 43, of Sparta, Illinois, was taken‍ into custody on ⁤Friday. She is charged⁣ with two counts​ of theft of property over $1,000,000, one​ count of wire fraud, and four counts of fraudulent filing of Illinois income tax.

the investigation began when sheriff’s officials received facts regarding⁤ potential ⁣financial irregularities at MedStar Ambulance. A subsequent, lengthy⁤ investigation revealed that over $1,000,000​ had allegedly been⁣ misappropriated over several years.Kelley‍ was arrested without incident by Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies ‌and investigators from the illinois Department of Revenue.

“I want​ to credit the Investigators who continued to work on ⁤this case and ​bring a ⁤closure to ‍it,” ‌stated Sheriff Jarrod Peters. “Their continued hard work and determination led to ‌the arrest of Kelley.”

As of Friday,⁢ authorities have not released further specifics regarding the nature of⁢ the alleged‍ theft. The investigation remains ongoing.

Randolph County investigators received assistance from the‍ Illinois Department of ⁤Revenue and the‌ Illinois Attorney General’s Office ⁣throughout the course of the investigation.
