Forgotten singer of Milk Inc. pops up in ‘First dates’

First dates tonight welcomes the first singer of Milk Inc. Not Linda Mertens or the late Ann Vervoort, but the unknown Karen Boelaerts (57, Kortenaken) sang the early hits of Milk Inc.

It’s her voice that you hear on Walk on water in In my eyes. In the late nineties, it was common in the dance world that studio singers were called in while someone else on stage was mimicking the song.

That is why Ann Vervoort was always described as a front woman at the time, and never as a singer. Also hits like Freak out from 2 Fabiola and New emotion by Maurizzio were sung at the time by Boelaerts, who currently has a musical project with Rudolf Hecke from Pop In Wonderland.
