Xinjiang Powers East China wiht Renewable Energy, Marking Milestone in Green Transmission
Ürümqi, Xinjiang – Xinjiang is dramatically increasing its role as a clean energy provider for eastern China, transmitting vast amounts of wind and solar power across thousands of miles.A surge in ultra-high voltage power grid projects is poised to further expand this capacity, solidifying Xinjiang’s position as a key player in China’s renewable energy strategy.
For seventy years, Xinjiang’s abundant wind and solar resources remained largely untapped. Now, through advanced technologies like millisecond intelligent scheduling, the region is efficiently channeling this energy to cities across the country.
Currently, one kilowatt-hour of every three kilowatt-hours of electricity transmitted from Xinjiang is green electricity. To date, over 270 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity have been transmitted – equivalent to the carbon sequestration of planting 11.18 billion trees.
Xinjiang’s power reach extends to 22 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities nationwide, with a cumulative transmission exceeding 950 billion kilowatt-hours. This volume is sufficient to support the daily electricity needs of 1.4 billion people for 280 days.
State Grid Xinjiang Power Company plans to construct 41 new ultra-high voltage power grid projects in 2025, a 50% increase over 2024. Shan Qiang, senior engineer of the Construction Department of State Grid Xinjiang Power Company, stated that the scale of ultra-high voltage power grid construction and production has reached a “past highest value,” entering a new phase characterized by “large-scale,high-strength,and high-quality” progress.
