Firefighters Arteixo and the Xunta have put out a fire in the area of Rañobre, Oseiro, near Suevos, in an area with forest mass of scrubland and trees, between the outer port of Punta Langosteira and its accesses. They received the call at around seven in the afternoon and managed to suffocate him around ten past eleven at night.
The wind made the work of the brigades difficult and although it was controlled, members of the Xunta Forest Fires have remained, however, all morning in the place with motor pumps controlling the area in case any outbreak was rekindled. The flames did not reach the houses. They were close to those located in the Vixiadoira street, where a part of the troops were kept throughout the operation as a precaution. The flames destroyed about 10 hectares, according to the initial calculations of the Arteixo firefighters.
For the control and extinction of this fire, nine agents, 15 brigades, nine motor pumps, a shovel, four helicopters and a Ministry of Defense plane have been mobilized to cooperate from the air in extinguishing the flames.
Forest fire in the Vío area
The other fire was registered in Vío, in the municipality of Vío, and was controlled late yesterday. It is already extinct. Municipal firefighters and members of the Xunta firefighting service have acted at the site and have worked all afternoon to extinguish this forest fire that has been declared in Vío, in the upper part of the business park of Pocomaco. Two municipal fire brigade units and as many helicopters from the Galician Administration have traveled to the place, which has collaborated in the tasks to quell the flames.
There are no houses in the vicinity of the focus, so it was not necessary to carry out an eviction. The strong wind, in any case, did hinder the efforts to put out this forest fire. Local Police agents also traveled to the site to help control the security perimeter.
The fire generated an intense smoke that could be seen from different points of the municipalities of A Coruña and from different places of the Arteixo town hall.
