Foreign Media Highlights Jokowi’s Peaceful Mission to Meet Putin and Zelensky All

After Germany, President Jokowi confirmed that he would meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

The meeting was intended to discuss peace over the polemic that occurred between Russia and Ukraine to the country’s leaders.

The following are a number of foreign media that highlight the topic of President Jokowi who will hold a meeting with the two leaders of the country.

1. France24

Foreign media France24 highlighting Jokowi’s visit to Germany as a guest of the G7 Summit which will take place on 26-27 June 2022.

It was also reported that Jokowi would go to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“His mission is to ask President Zelensky to open a dialogue forum for peace, to build peace because war must be stopped,” Jokowi said at a press conference in Jakarta.

Then, Jokowi and Zelensky will discuss the food supply chain that needs to be reactivated immediately.

From Kyiv, Jokowi is scheduled to visit Moscow and meet with Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

A visit to Moscow is planned for June 30, Indonesian authorities said.

“With the same mission, I will ask President Putin to open dialogue and immediately carry out a ceasefire and stop the war,” he said.

2. Arabnews

In foreign media Arabnewsit was reported that Indonesia’s mission was to fight for peace in Ukraine as well as to resolve the ongoing global energy and food crisis.

Jokowi said the meeting was important to prevent developing and low-income countries from falling into extreme poverty and hunger.

“The war must stop and the global food supply chain needs to be reactivated,” Jokowi said.

From this, Indonesian international relations researcher at the University of Queensland, Australia, Dr Ahmad Rizky Mardhatillah Umar said, Indonesia is concerned about how war will affect the G20 presidency, as well as domestic energy and food security.

Indonesia wants to ensure that Russia and Western countries do not use the G20 as a battlefield to advance their cause,” Umar told Arab News.

According to Umar, because it is still unclear what Indonesia will propose to Zelensky and Putin in the upcoming meeting, Jokowi’s visit is unlikely to change the situation in Europe.

Indonesia is not in the capacity to mediate conflicts and offer long-term and strategic solutions to end the war,” Umar continued.

Aljazeera highlight Jokowi who will visit Ukraine and Russia on a peace mission.

It was reported that Jokowi would urge Russian and Ukrainian counterparts to open dialogue during the peacebuilding mission and ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to order an immediate ceasefire.

“The war must stop and the global food supply chain needs to be reactivated,” Jokowi said before leaving for Germany to attend the G7 summit.

Jokowi also said he would encourage the G7 to seek peace in Ukraine, and find an immediate solution to the global food and energy crisis.

Russia called its actions in Ukraine a “special operation”.
