Ford will close the factory in 2025, where it produces focus

Ford does not plan to replace Focus production in 2025 at its plant in Saarlouis, Germany. Instead, the American company will look for “alternative opportunities” for the factory, including selling another carmaker, Rowley said.

It is said that Ford does not see much opportunity to keep the factory, which will continue to produce focus for another three years, after the end of production of the current focus above water.

“We don’t have another model in our planning at the moment to be made there,” said Rowley.

At the same time, he did not please many of the 4,600 employees there, because they are in danger of great redundancies if electric cars were produced in the factory. “The reality of the industry is that the production of electric cars will require fewer people,” he added.

Focus has had more problems in recent months, which have probably caused its downfall. Waiting times for new cars exceeded 12 months as Ford struggled with a shortage of parts and supplies. One of the main problems is the infotainment SYNC4, which is produced in Ukraine.

It is not yet clear what the fate of the name Focus will be, but it will probably not get a completely direct successor to the legendary model that Ford has been offering since 1998.
