For all Viennese holiday returners from non-risk countries: Expansion of the free corona test streets at the Happel Stadium

The City of Vienna announced that the drive-in and walk-in test streets are working well. They are therefore now open to those returning from vacation from all non-risk countries and also to those who have been on vacation in Austria.

LEOPOLDSTADT. Almost 4,000 people have so far made use of the free Corona test offer in the Prater. 68 tests have so far been positive. Because the process works smoothly, the offer is now to be expanded: All holiday-returners can be tested there from now on. So far, the tests have been reserved for those who have returned from Croatia.

Balearic travelers can come from now on

The gurgle tests on the stadium forecourt are now also available for returnees from the Balearic Islands (including Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) who returned to Austria between the 14th and 23rd. These vacationers can also be tested at the airport. From August 24th, a travel warning is in force in these countries – for everyone who comes home afterwards, they apply Entry regulations of the federal government.

In addition, all people who have taken leave of absence in non-risk countries * or another Austrian state can be tested free of charge. Returning travelers from the Austrian federal states must be able to prove a stay outside Vienna of four days or longer in order to take advantage of the free test. This offer is aimed exclusively at people with a main residence in Vienna.

Open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The test streets are open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are located on the forecourt of the Ernst Happel Stadium. You can come to the test on foot or by car. You definitely have to bring your e-card, photo ID and the registration form (the offer is only for Viennese people). In addition, you have to make it plausible that you have taken a vacation in one of the countries for which the test is intended. You shouldn’t eat or brush your teeth two hours before the gargle test, drinking is okay. The test involves gargling with a saline solution for 60 seconds and then allowing it to flow into a test tube. Important: If you have symptoms, you should not come to the test street, but dial the number 1450.

The people who have tested positive so far have not felt sick, these asymptomatic cases would not have been found without the test road, emphasizes the city’s medical crisis team. “The figures show that people who return to travel are playing an increasingly important role in new infections in Vienna – as in all of Austria,” said Health Councilor Hacker (SPÖ). “The Viennese who return from a trip often do not know that they are infected. We want to give them the opportunity to have certainty quickly and easily. Ultimately, everyone benefits from this,” said Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) in one Broadcast.

* Non-risk countries are: Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Switzerland , Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Vatican, United Kingdom and Cyprus.
