“For a long time I didn’t want to perform Piaf’s songs.” Interview with the “heiress” of Edita Piaf’s work, who will perform in Latvia – Celebrities – Apollo.lv – Entertainment

However, for a long time I did not want to perform Piaf songs.

Now I can say with confidence that Edith is my lucky star, but initially I was very afraid that I could do or sing something wrong, interpret it wrongly. This is a huge responsibility!

The great French actor Alain Delon, after watching your show, said that you are not playing Piaf, but living her life on stage! How do you do it?

There is no secret here, and yet it is. That’s love. Against Piaf, against the show, against singing. I just sing with all my soul and body. I don’t need to “inhabit” the role in any particular way. It’s not quite a role for me, but something much bigger and deeper. And I just think about Edith with love and respect when I’m on stage.

Can you draw any parallels between your life and Piaf’s?

Like Edith, I am used to having great men around me in my life. I am very lucky with them. Especially with “PIAF! The Show” partners.

On August 21 of this year, on the closing evening of THE BEST OF “Summertime – invites Inese Galante” festival, the guests of the Dzintari Concert Hall will be treated to the premiere of the musical show – the world’s biggest hit “Piaf! The Show”. Since its premiere, more than a million tickets have already been sold in more than fifty countries. The show tells about the life and work of the French chanson legend Edith Piaf, allowing the audience to fully enjoy the atmosphere of Paris at the beginning of the last century. Starring in the show Piaf! The Show is performed by actress and singer Natalia Lhermit.
