For a child to travel abroad with an accompanying person, the consent of only one parent can be made mandatory

The Russian government has proposed to simplify the procedure for the departure of children abroad, the corresponding bill introduced to the State Duma. If accepted for an international trip with an accompanying person, the notarial consent of one of the parents will be enough, Interfax reports.

Now, if a child leaves the country with an accompanying person, it is necessary to draw up a notarized consent to leave from both parents (or all adoptive parents, guardians and trustees). A sufficient condition for a child to travel abroad with one parent will be the absence of the other parent’s disagreement to travel, the bill says.

At the same time, the disagreement of any of the parents on the departure of the child is proposed to be made “flexible” – it will be possible to prohibit the child from traveling to all countries, or to one country or a list of countries. If the dissenting parent himself is traveling with the child, there will be no obstacles to leaving. Also, the disagreement can be withdrawn out of court.

Now even if a child should accompanied by a parent, the consent of the other parent may be required to enter some countries. According to Russian laws, for a child to travel abroad with one parent (guardian, guardian, adoptive parent), the consent of the second parent is not required, unless one of the legal representatives has declared his disagreement with the child’s departure from Russia.

Depending on with whom the child will travel abroad, a different package of documents is required. The least documents are required if the child travels with both parents. In other cases, a notarized consent of one or both parents may be required.

If a child rides abroad, accompanied by other adults (grandmothers, aunts, uncles, to a sports camp, on an excursion with a group), it is necessary to issue a notarized consent of one of the parents (guardians, adoptive parents, trustees) for the child to travel abroad. In some countries, the consent of the second parent may also be required.
