Mirandés, the last Spanish second division boarder in the King’s Cup, again created the feat by knocking down Villarreal (4-2) and qualified for the semi-finals.
After defeating Celta Vigo then Seville in eighths (3-1), Mirandés, promoted this season to the second division, defeated Villarreal, 7th in Liga. Twice, Villarreal managed to equalize but Odei Onaindia definitely gave the advantage to the Castilians (58th). Antonio Sanchez sealed the feat in stoppage time.
Mirandés had already created the sensation in 2012 by qualifying for the semi-finals of the King’s Cup … while he was playing in D3.
