The conflict is captured on video. Shirokov, who has been named Russian Footballer of the Year twice in the past, got into a dispute with the referee after the referee refused to order a penalty kick against the opponent.
After a short exchange, Judge wanted to expel Širokov. But the football player knocked him to the ground with a blow to the face and then kicked him. Only then did his teammates pull him off the field and the referee was treated by a doctor.
Širokov, who apologized for his behavior after the match, lost his position as a television commentator for the sports program Match TV due to the incident.
