Freiburg (dpa) – Captain Lars Stindl from the Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach is in danger of being injured for a long time. “We have to wait for the MRI, but it looks like a muscle fiber tear,” said Gladbach’s new coach Daniel Farke after his team’s 9-1 victory in the first round of the DFB Cup against Oberliga club SV Oberachern on Sunday. Farke said he assumes that Stindl will be absent “for a week or two”. The 33-year-old is an important player and contact person for him, the coach continued. The injury is a “big drop of bitterness”.
Stindl was substituted after 60 minutes of the game in Freiburg. Shortly before, the offensive man had made it 7-0. Gladbach will play their first league game of the new season next Saturday against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
