Football: Chelsea throws Liverpool out of the FA Cup

Soccer

After the first season defeat in the English Premier League – a 0: 3 at Watford on Saturday – Liverpool also suffered a defeat in the FA Cup round of 16 on Tuesday evening. The “Reds” lost 2-0 to Chelsea in London, giving them the chance to win their eighth title in the traditional competition, the first since 2006.

The undisputed Premier League front-runner and Champions League defending champion, who, however, was not in the best line-up at Stamford Bridge, had to bury the dream of a triple after goals from Willian (13th) and Ross Barkley (64th) ,

The first English championship title in 30 years seems to be only a matter of form for the club of coach Jürgen Klopp with 22 points ahead of the pursuers Manchester City.

Lazaro scores in Newcastle win

In Newcastle United’s 3-2 win at second division West Bromwich Albion, Valentino Lazaro was responsible for the decisive goal to make it 3-0 in the quarter-finals. The ÖFB team player, who only switched from Inter Milan to the “Magpies” in the winter, bounced a rebound after a shot by Allan Saint-Maximin with his hip to his first goal for his new club over the line (47th).
