Comedienne Amelie Albrecht (30) has a tough life, as it sounds in her theater tour. And also during our question fire. From difficult studies and cheating to guys who forward dirty things. Yet she is nothing but satisfied with her life and even gives us a few life lessons. “Self-understanding comes with age and with therapy.”
Every week, NINA puts a well-known Flemish person on fire because of them to ask bold questions. In their answers they reveal aspects or stories that we have not heard from them before.
What’s the most irreverent proposal you’ve received?
“The classic is a foot photo that men are willing to pay fifty euros for. Still okay, huh? It would still be possible to go into that. But knowing someone jerks off to it is weird. And then that fifty euros is too little.”
Is there gossip about you?
“At a party in the second secondary school I sat uninterested on a chair on the side. I’d had it. Someone asked a friend of mine, “What’s up with Amelie?” She said I had cancer. Every classmate came to me to ask: ‘Hey, ça va? So bad with the disease.’”
In the middle of a show I had to go to the toilet urgently. When you come back, that’s ‘gone atmosphere’.
Do you use your name for BV discount?
“Every year I go on a weekend with a good friend and she booked a house for us. I put some pictures online that the owners were happy with. I was allowed to take a souvenir from the closet. From now on I will do the bookings. (laughs)”
What did you underestimate about being famous?
“As a comedian I have the bad luck that guys forward dirty stuff and hide behind ‘Haha, it’s just for a laugh’. As a result, they write whatever bullshit.”
Have you ever been cheated on or cheated on yourself?
“I used to think it would never happen to me and I was more naive, but in the long run you ever experience everything? So both. Many are in a relationship that they really don’t want to be in anymore and a lot of people cheat on each other.”
When was the last time you cried?
“My uncle passed away at the end of October. I was at StuBru around Christmas and a song came out that had to do with him. I had to cry.”
What was the most embarrassing moment at work?
“During a tryout I had to get off stage in the middle of the show to go to the toilet. Better than shitting my pants, because that was going to happen. When you come back, that’s ‘away atmosphere’.”
A good piece of advice: there is more than just studying.
How many points do you give yourself out of ten?
“You ask if I think I’m cool? (laughs) I would give myself a nine: nobody is perfect, but you have to be content to the maximum. And I am. Self-understanding comes with age and with therapy.”
Have you ever done anything illegal?
“Sex in public.”
What was the worst advice you ever received?
“I was a bad student and took two years longer to finish secondary school. Everyone is talking about doing your best and thinking about what you’re going to do with your life later. Sometimes you forget that there are other options. A good piece of advice is: there is more to it than just studying.”
How was the first time?
“That was okay. (laughs) I was fifteen and thought that was a good age.”
When did you have the hangover of your life?
“I have already forgotten that. What I do remember: the older you get, the harder they come in.”
