At only 14 years old, the swimmer of Tri-Adventure Club of the Pays de Fontainebleau already has an impressive track record. And she just completed it. The Bellifontaine Clemence Richard was crowned vice-champion of France in swimming, in the junior category, on Saturday January 28 in Sarcelles (Val d’Oise)and 5 km indoor, and basin de 50 m.

The France team in the sights

“She is a long-distance swimmer, warns Nacer Aouad, her trainer who has been following her for almost 8 years. She specializes in the 800m and 1,500m, but her real dominance is open water swimming 5 or 10 km. But the one on the list of top athletes has already shone at shorter distances.

Her coach sees her as a great hope for swimming: a member of the Ile-de-France open water swimming collective, Clémence Richard started swimming at the age of 6. “She is at the gates of the France team,” he says. His strength ? His ability to chain up to 8 weekly workouts…

“She can swim 30 to 40 km per week,” breathes Nacer Aouad. An investment that she and her trainer organize as well as possible so that the young champion can carry out his studies : she is currently in second at the Joan of Arc high school – Saint Aspais de Fontainebleau. “Beyond her physical abilities, she has a incredible mental strength, underlines his trainer. She never gives up! »

Club spotlight

His ambition now: a title of champion of France. Clémence Richard will quickly get back to training with the French championship in sight in open water, in June in Dunkirk (North). “The other objective is the cup of the Comen, which are the junior european championships, explains Nacer Aouad. Clémence is a competitor and her goal is to constantly surpass the others. »

For the club Fontainebleau Tri-Adventure, Clémence Richard’s performances are a real spotlight to highlight the club, which trains at the CNSD swimming pool. “The group is open, insists Nacer Aouad. Everyone can join us and her performances can allow us to attract new swimmers and discover, like her, future great potential. »
