Fnac threatened by Darty’s English past

The liquidator of Comet, a British distributor formerly in the same fold as Darty, claims 98 million euros from the group.

Franco-British divorces take a long time to settle. Eight years after the sale of Comet, the equivalent of Darty in the United Kingdom, the Fnac Darty group is being asked for the pretty sum of 83 million pounds sterling (98 million euros) by the liquidator of this company. It corresponds to the reimbursement of an amount collected at the time of the transfer. The Fnac Darty group confirmed this information on Monday, previously published by the Financial times.

The French group has been caught up in Darty’s past. As in some love stories, Comet and the French home appliance specialist had radically different fates when separated.
