A flying bullet landed in the wall above the bed of an 87-year-old woman in Rotterdam on the night from Saturday to Sunday. She was not injured in the process. Three men have been arrested in connection with the case.
The incident took place around 1:00 am at Zuiderhagen in Rotterdam. The woman heard a bang and then felt glass splinters in her hair and on her bed. She thought the bang and splinters came from a falling painting, but according to police came to a different conclusion when the light came on and “she saw the hole above her bed.”
Police were alerted by a local resident who had heard bangs that did not resemble fireworks. The woman was offered victim assistance. There are no indications that the house was aimed at, thus the police.
Meanwhile, a twenty-year-old man from The Hague, a twenty-year-old man from the Hoogvliet and a 25-year-old man with no permanent residence or residence have been arrested. Several bullet casings were found in the street and in the car of the trio, officers found “indications that they might have more to do with the incident”.
The neighborhood survey will continue on Sunday. Police call on witnesses who have seen or heard something to report.
