Florida authorizes Santa Claus to move reindeer and enter homes, but with a mask

Santa Claus has official permission to move his reindeer throughout the US state of Florida, enter all homes and distribute gifts to children without paying fees, but as long as he is wearing a mask.

The Florida Department of Agriculture, which regulates the transport of animals and livestock, issued a certificate Wednesday allowing the Claus, both North Pole residents, to come to the state with nine reindeer.

The highly official certificate details in the description that the reindeer are “very cute and furry; one with a red nose.”

The permit is valid from this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. until Friday at 7:00 a.m., although “additional time can be allocated for Mr. Claus to finish the cookies and milk after his last delivery.”

It also requires the expected visitor to “put on the mask when leaving the sled to deliver gifts, in accordance with the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

“Given this year’s challenges, we want to ensure that Santa Claus is able to safely travel around the state and spread holiday cheer to all Florida children,” Commissioner Nikki Fried said in a statement.

The text details that the animals will be examined and the sled disinfected upon entering Florida.

“Dr. Michael Short, the state veterinarian, noted that one of the reindeer, named Rudolph, appears to have a red nose,” the text added. “However, this is not due to a health problem.”

Apparently the red nose of Rudolph – the most famous member of the Claus team – has the function of guiding the sled.
