FlixTrain: From Cologne to Leipzig, Wittenberg and Aachen

Cologne –

Good news for rail travelers from Cologne: FlixTrain continues to expand its schedule change offer. For Cologne residents, this means, among other things, three new destination cities that can be reached from Cologne.

FlixTrain: Three new stops from Cologne after a timetable change

One of them is even of great importance for German history: Lutherstadt Wittenberg. In addition, Leipzig and Aachen can now also be reached with a FlixTrain from Cologne.

“We want to make our green FlixTrain offer accessible to as many people as possible,” says Fabian Stenger, Managing Director FlixTrain. “With FlixTrain, we have established Germany’s first private long-distance train network and the overwhelming response from passengers shows that people want this alternative by rail.”

FlixTrain: New routes also outside of Cologne

The timetable change also opens up new opportunities for FlixTrain users outside of Cologne: on the Berlin – Stuttgart route, four new cities will be served with Halle (Saale), Erfurt, Eisenach and Gotha. Passengers from Leipzig and Lutherstadt Wittenberg can now also travel to Berlin, Dortmund or the likewise new stop Aachen with the FlixTrain.

In addition, the north of Germany should be even better connected to the west and south in the future: passengers can now travel from Hamburg to Cologne even faster. On the new express connection, the journey between the two cities takes just over three and a half hours.

FlixTrain: North should be better connected to west and south

Furthermore, the Hanseatic city will be networked even better with the south of Germany: From spring 2020, passengers can travel for the first time without changing between Hamburg and Stuttgart with the FlixTrain. The route will go via Hanover, Göttingen, Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, Fulda, Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Heidelberg. Until summer 2020, up to three departures per day and direction will be offered.

Another FlixTrain decision had recently caused frustration among travelers. From December 15, the company wanted to start a new route between Cologne and Bonn. The entire timetable has been adapted to make room. Among other things, the Bornheim-Roisdorf and Hürth-Kalscheuren stops on the RB26 were painted three times a day. But the FlixTrain rides are not taking place now (read more here). (tw)
