Flemish energy regulator postpones capacity tariff for another six months until early 2023 | Inland

The delay comes as no surprise. Earlier, the Vreg had said it would consider a postponement, after both grid manager Fluvius and the federation of energy companies had asked Febeg to do so. Flemish energy minister Zuhal Demir (N-VA) had also already pushed for a postponement.

The capacity tariff calculates the costs for using the electricity grid in a different way. In future, grid tariffs would no longer be fully calculated on the basis of the amount of electricity purchased, but largely on the basis of peak consumption.

But the capacity tariff is politically sensitive, especially in times of high energy prices. After all, for some customers – especially small users – the annual bill could increase.
