The North American subsidiary of the ACS Flatiron Group has been awarded the project to remodel one of the runways at the Dallas Love Field airport, in Texas (United States), for an amount of more than 100 million euros (125 million dollars).

Flatiron plans to begin the tender and construction project of what is the longest runway at the airfield this spring and complete it in the summer of next year, as reported this Monday.

The 13R-31L received a significant layer of concrete in 1990 that has survived its design life. Now needs a complete rebuild commissioned by the city of Dallas from the ACS subsidiary, which already has experience in these infrastructures as evidenced by its projects at Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport and at Houston, Colorado Springs, Denver, San Diego and San Francisco airports.

The project

Between the planned improvements the concessionaire includes the replacement of the pavement of runway 13R-31L; rebuilding parts of the nearby taxiway or building a new road that will allow Southwest Airlines to improve access to hangars and terminals.

Likewise, it has expanded the note sent to the media, will install a new precision approach path indicator system (PAPI) and will improve the electrical and drainage infrastructure.

Throughout the project, the Flatiron team will work closely with the Love Field team and other stakeholders to “seek innovative solutions to achieve cost efficiencies and ambitious project schedules.”

This project reinforces Flatiron’s presence in the state of Texas. It is added to the one achieved in 2020 at the Lake Ralph Hall reservoir, valued at 70 million dollars and at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport valued at 77 million dollars.
