Five finalists were selected for the World Athletics Awards

Among the five finalists in the men’s competition were Joshua Cheptegei from Uganda, Ryan Krauzer, a puncher from the USA, Karsten Warholm from Norway, Spearman Johannes Fetter from Germany and Armands Duplantis from Sweden.

This year, Cheptegei set a world record in 5,000 meters (12.35.36), 10,000 meters (26.11.00) and a five-kilometer distance on the highway (12 minutes and 51 seconds), as well as his fourth debut in the half marathon world championship.

Krauzer remained undefeated in the ten-ball competition, but the result of 22.91 meters lifted him to the third place in the list of the best in the world.

Duplantis twice set the world record in indoor jumping (6.17 meters and 6.18 meters) and once in the stadium (6.15 meters), as well as remained unbeaten in 16 competitions.

Feter won eight of the nine javelin throws and scored 97.76 meters, the second-ever longest shot in the sport’s history.

Varholms achieved the best result of the season in the world in the 400-meter hurdles (46.87), which is the second fastest performance in this distance in history, remained undefeated in nine races in the 400 meters with and without barriers, and achieved the best result in the world in the 300-meter hurdles (33.78) .

The winners are determined in three rounds. WA Council and WA Family members cast their votes via email, but fans can vote for their favorites on WA social networks.

The WA board will have 50% of the vote, while the remaining 50% will be split between the WA Family and the fan vote.

The first part of the vote closed at midnight on 15 November, but the winners will be announced on 5 December.
