Two of the suspects, men aged 26 and 20 from Amsterdam, were arrested by arrest teams in Zandvoort. The Regional Investigation Service (DRR) arrested the other suspects at several locations in the capital: three Amsterdammers aged 20, 19 and 18 years old respectively.
After the arrests, the suspects were placed in restrictions. The police cannot share details about the suspects or the reason why they are suspected at this stage.

A spokeswoman for the Amsterdam police did say by phone that she was ‘very happy with the arrests’. “Since the shooting incident on Saturday afternoon, a Team Large-scale Investigation (TGO) has been working continuously on the case. I don’t know exactly how many detectives have been on it, but clearly it was a large group. It is also nice for us that this leads to a breakthrough. ”
The work is far from finished. The TGO is still busy with the search for the weapon, other traces and the precise mapping of the deadly shooting incident. The spokeswoman: “The investigation continues steadily. We really still hope that people who were there and have not yet reported, will still want to do so. Maybe also about the suspects who have been arrested. All information is still welcome. ”
Van Wijk’s death has led to great indignation. A silent tour will be held on Friday. With the hashtag ‘Justice for Bas’, twitterers are calling on them to come and demonstrate on the Dam in Amsterdam next Sunday.
