Clashes between police and Alitalia workers. About two thousand demonstrators at Terminal 3 of Leonardo Da Vinci airport tried to break through the police cordon. The airport was blocked and Rome-Fiumicino closed.
With union flags and protest banners, orange smoke bombs, repeated cackling of trumpets and even a van with a few people on it, the demonstrators had gathered in the departure area in the morning, watched by officers.
