First official manned SpaceX flight en route to ISS

The commercial space company SpaceX has launched a manned capsule to the space station ISS for the second time. At half past one tonight (Dutch time) the Dragon spaceship with four crew members on board took off from the Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida.

It is SpaceX’s first official flight. In May, the company already conducted a successful test flight with two crew members on board. That was the first time ever that a commercial company launched a manned space capsule.

The flight left with a delay of one day, Saturday it was still too windy.

Four at a time

On board the capsule are three Americans and a Japanese, who are scheduled to arrive at the ISS early Tuesday morning Dutch time. It is the first time there four crew members at a time arrive at the space station.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was unable to witness the launch of the second manned flight up close. He is in quarantine because he says he is probably infected with the corona virus.
