First forever: first impressions of Toyota’s electric car with a complicated name – Car news – Car – TVNET

Aldis Zelmenis: “In order to have a balance, there is an 80 kW motor on the front axle and the same on the rear. If you compare all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive, then the power difference is not that big – 150 or 160 kW.

So the bZ4x makes a moderate 204 to 218 horsepower. Acceleration is under 7 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 160 km/h. The Germans may not like it, but the options of the all-wheel drive version are expanding X mode a feature borrowed from electric car project partner Subaru. Judging by the video shown in the presentation, the electric car can handle even with two suspended wheels, as if it had real locking differentials. Depending on the configuration, an 8- or 12.3-inch display takes center stage in the cabin. There is no glove box in the front to give more legroom.

Aldis Zelmenis: “In the middle, the center console has a capacity of 21 liters. Under it there is free space for all kinds of small things. You can charge your phone, and there are also the necessary kapholderi.”

The 72 kilowatt-hour battery should provide a range of 470 – 516 km. Up to 150 kW can be taken from the BZ4x fast charger, while the built-in AC charger is also not bad – 6.6 kW in the single-phase version, and all 11 in the three-phase version.

Aldis Zelmenis: “This car is a crossover, which we like and will continue to like in the future. That’s why Toyota is starting with a crossover. The main information – when will you be able to buy it?”

Toyota BZ4x can already be bought in Western Europe. It is already available in both Denmark and Norway. We will only have the opportunity to order in September and the price will be announced. On the other hand, the car itself will arrive in Latvia only in February next year.

So the Subaru Solterra will come sooner, but only in all-wheel drive, so in the expensive version.

Aldis Zelmenis: “This is a case where the car drives much better than it looks. I admit that there will be people who will like the look of the BZ4x. But the way it drives, how it behaves on the road in the city and outside… it is very well equipped. It has everything one could want from a modern electric-only crossover.”

Toyota promises that the BZ4x battery will retain at least 70% of its original capacity even after 10 years, one million kilometers or 2,200 charges. That’s a serious request, even from hybrid car connoisseurs.
