First doses of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine have arrived in the country

The first doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine arrived in Canada on Saturday in preparation for the start of the major vaccination operation.

Health Canada approved the vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech on Wednesday morning.

In Quebec, patients from CHSLD Maimonides, in Côte-Saint-Luc, and Saint-Antoine, in Quebec, will be the first to be inoculated. These two CHSLDs are among the 14 nationally designated distribution sites, said Major General Dany Fortin, who coordinates the vaccination operation from coast to coast.

It is expected that some 57,000 Quebecers will be vaccinated by January 4, and 650,000 by March 31.
