The first baby born in New York City in 2021 was received at Coney Island Hospital, announced NYC Health + Hospitals, the nation’s largest public health care system.
Jaxel Rodríguez was born just at 12:00 am measuring 19 inches and weighing 6 pounds 11 ounces. He is the third child of Ivett Rodríguez and Antonio Guilbert, the hospital reported.
The Brooklyn family said in a statement to the hospital that they have received “the best gift of the new year.”
