Fires – Ludwigshafen am Rhein – fire after deflagration on factory premises – panorama

Ludwigshafen (dpa / lrs) – After a deflagration on a factory site of a chemical company in the south of Ludwigshafen, flames broke out on Thursday night. According to the fire brigade, a plant for processing aluminum oxide burned over a length of about 15 meters. Heavy oil leaked out, which also ignited. The flames could be extinguished completely. The fire brigade ended their mission after around three hours.

Two initially missing employees were found outside in front of the factory building. They were not injured by the deflagration. According to the fire brigade, the affected system is initially out of order.

The cause of the deflagration was still unknown on Thursday afternoon. The investigation is already underway, said a police spokeswoman. The extent of the damage to property was also not yet known.
