The information was given to the Lusa agency by commander Pedro Araújo, of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
The official explained that the fireman, from the volunteers of Leiria, from the Monte Redondo section, was in the aftermath of the fire that broke out in the parish of Arrabal, municipality of Leiria, which was said to have been dominated during the night and that it had a reactivation today, but that at the beginning of the afternoon it resolved.
Pedro Araújo said that the firefighter was in the aftermath operations, on the “front line” and that he “felt bad” and became unconscious, having entered cardiorespiratory arrest.
He was taken to the hospital already in “resuscitation maneuvers”.
The hospital confirmed the death tonight.
The fireman was 34 years old.
