The Czech redesign of the Toyota Hilux with a 6×6 drive became the basis of a new firefighting special designed for interventions in electric vehicle fires, in garages and in difficult-to-access terrain.

After a four – axle special for Škoda Auto racing firefighters, KOBIT – THZ boasted another unusual special. This time it is a special RZA fire truck on the Toyota Hilux 6×6 platform, which is designed for extinguishing electric cars, interventions in hard-to-reach terrain and interventions in areas with a limited height of up to 185 cm, where conventional emergency vehicles cannot get.
It is worth mentioning that the three-axle chassis itself is supplied by the Czech company Dajbych. This was inspired by the higher demand for similar machines abroad, where for many users it solves the insufficient space and payload of pick-ups with a classic 4×4 drive. Pick-ups with a 6×6 drive often find their use in the services of rescue or security forces.

Each conversion of the Hilux 6×6 is carried out according to the individual needs of the customer, which also applies to the choice of cab (Single / Double Cab). However, each car has European homologation with Euro 6. The advantages of the Hilux 6×6 include increased load capacity of up to 3 tons, chassis extension by 1230 mm and increased traction thanks to six driven wheels.
The car frame itself has a special construction of four tubular profiles with high rigidity. The transmission is newly developed with two cardans for the rear axles with a self-locking differential and lock. Both rear axles have a lockable axle differential and the front differential can also be locked. Hilux thus enables drive in 6×4, 6×6 and 6×6 modes with reduction.

To increase the load capacity, the arms and elements of the front wheels were modified, the rear rigid axles were used from the Toyota Hilux. The chassis is equipped with an air-adjustable system with load sensing of the rear axles. In addition, they are both equipped with a stabilizer and there are also disc brakes. Under the hood of the Hilux 6×6 can be stored both a standard 2.4 D turbodiesel engine with a maximum output of 110 kW and a torque of 400 Nm, and a four-liter atmospheric six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 167 kW.
At the front, the Hilux 6×6 is equipped with a strength bumper with strong chassis protection, into which the winch is integrated. In addition to the beacons, the infrared camera sensor is also located in the mask.

The cabin has four doors and on its roof we can notice a massive carrier with integrated warning lights. Behind the cabin is a special superstructure for firefighters, which contains equipment for a wide range of interventions. However, the CCS Cobra high-pressure extinguishing system, which should enable fast and efficient extinguishing of traction batteries, will be particularly important for interventions in burning electric cars.
However, due to the high efficiency of this system, the car can also be used for other interventions. In addition, it is equipped with a wide range of cordless rescue tools, overpressure hoses, detection technology and the prescribed equipment for RZA (Rapid Emergency Vehicle).
