Fire is my brush. Anniversary exhibition of artist Dina Dubina opened in Turaida / Article / LSM.lv

The road is a movement, and art is the road of Dina Dubina, which she has been persistently following for 45 years. On August 21, with the opening of the solo exhibition “Road” at the Turaida Museum Reserve, the artist celebrates a double holiday – the 65th anniversary of life and 45 years of creative work. The exhibition features jewelery enamel paintings and jewelry created in her original technique, as well as the discovery of recent years – amber and graphite paintings.

“Metal is my canvas. Scissors are my pencil. Enamel is my color. Fire is my brush. ” This is how the artist Dina Dubiņa describes herself, celebrating her double anniversary in the exhibition hall of the Turaida Museum Reserve.

“There are different approaches to art, for example, writers try to write off something, to mean something. I believe that my art is not any neurography or anything like that, I categorically do not acknowledge the inclusion of any of my problems in art. If I feel bad or in a bad mood, I don’t get caught. Because I believe that you have to carry positive, solar energy, and if you mark a neurograph, then throw it away, but do not release it on the air, ”emphasizes the artist.

The name of the anniversary exhibition “Road” refers to the eternal movement, the road in art, the road during which many doors must be unlocked and some key must be broken, because it is sometimes the most difficult to find the road that leads to itself. Over the past year, the artist has also tried new techniques – paintings with amber and graphite and discovered that raw Baltic Sea amber in combination with graphite has a beneficial effect on the environment, attracting and neutralizing free radicals.

The artist tells about her creative process:

“I didn’t draw sketches, I just sat down and started doing it, I have to thank the universe for sending me something like that.”

The element of Dina Dubina is fire, and according to the horoscope, the artist was born in the sign of Leo and also works with fire – enamel is on fire, metal is on fire. Even in the Turaida Museum Reserve, August is a month of fire after the ancient Liv rituals.

“Turaida is the land of the ancient Livs, and August, the month of the artist’s birth, is the month of fire according to the ancient Liv rituals. And it is a holiday for the museum, a holiday for all of us, and how wonderful the harmony of colors and thoughts and the energy of its fire address, ”notes Anna Jurkāne, the director of the Turaida Museum Reserve.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, deciding that art would remain, because enamel paintings could live up to a thousand years, the artist created many new works.

“It should be noted that all my works require the sun.

Because amber paintings require the sun, because in heat and sunlight they emit the electrons that trap free radicals, also in the air, it would be desirable to put those works in sunlight, unlike paintings. And these enamel works can be washed and can also be disinfected during this time of Covid-19, ”says the artist Dina Dubiņa.
