–Gironde firefighters face a new fire this time in the Médoc. (@ Actu.fr Bordeaux / AB)
While Gironde was placed on forest fire red alert, three new fires started in the department Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Two fires have been underway in Saint-Magne and Troupins since midday and at least 320 hectares have gone up in smoke, report our colleagues from Republican.
Air resources sent to the Médoc
The firefighters fought at the same time on a third front, in Sainte-Hélène, in the Médoc, from the middle of the afternoon.
At 6:21 p.m., the fire was “in the process of being fixed”, the departmental operational center for fire and rescue told Actu.fr Bordeaux.
Six people evacuated
About fifteen hectares went up in smoke. Two Canadairs were sent to the Médoc to fix the flames and about ten means of fight were mobilized on the ground.
Two motorhomes parked in the “Christine and Bruno” campsite, i.e. six people, were evacuated preventively by the gendarmerie after 4 p.m.
The city of Lacanau has also announced on Facebook that the D6 road has been closed to traffic “from the road to Saumos and a diversion is in place” because of this ongoing fire.
This summer of 2022 is under high tension for the Girondin firefighters who fought two historic fires in the department in July at La Teste-de-Buch and Landiras. 20,800 hectares were reduced to ashes in all in the two areas.
These two fires, which started on July 12, are still not extinguished. That of La Teste-de-Buch is considered to be under control and that of Landiras fixed. It is not far from this city that the two fires on Tuesday started in the south of the Gironde.
