On Monday night, a chipboard burned at the Reichtags building in Berlin. Around 0:30 a.m., a previously unknown cause caused a small area of chipboard to catch fire on a window on the east side of the building, as a fire department spokesman said in the morning. The fire was extinguished before the fire brigade arrived. According to the spokesman, the mission, to which 50 rescue workers were initially called, ended after around 30 minutes.
Nobody got hurt. The cause of the fire was still unclear in the morning. Initially, “BZ” and “Bild” reported, the RBB also reported. Accordingly, the police are looking for the perpetrator or the perpetrators. The Berlin police initially did not confirm this to the German Press Agency on Monday morning.
Since the Reichstag building is under special protection, more firefighters were initially called in than was ultimately necessary, the spokesman said.
