A “fairly large” fire broke out at Bierset airport, in the province of Liège, in the course of the evening on Wednesday at around 10:30 p.m. affecting building B30, between the passenger terminal and the oil part of the airport, a confirmed to Belga Christian Delcourt, communication manager of Liege Airport.

The firefighters of the airport and Liège are on site. There were no injuries to deplore and no aircraft were affected by the flames leaving. However, smoke development is significant, said Delcourt.
He specifies that the planes which were to land at the airport are prevented from doing so for the moment, while several cargo planes from the TNT company are expected during the night.
The bourgmestre acting for the commune of Grâce Hollogne, Manuel Dony, was warned by the police in the evening that a fire was in progress and went there.
Belga contested that the fire had not yet been brought under control and noted the presence of around fifteen police officers and around thirty firefighters with pumper pumps around midnight. Certain accesses to the site are blocked, which prevented the mobility of many workers who had to operate during the night.
