Kochi: Theater owners’ association ‘Fiok’ has said that cinema theaters in the state will not open soon. They want the government to approve their demands, including exemptions from recreation taxes and fixed charges for electricity. The decisions are taken by the Fiok General Body in Kochi.
The Film Chamber had yesterday decided not to open theaters without acknowledging their demands, including entertainment tax exemption.
Theaters in the state have been closed for more than ten months due to the Kovid. The government had given permission for the theaters to open on January 5. The owners demanded a waiver of the electricity fixed charge and entertainment tax. They also said that it was a loss to allow entry to only half the seats.
Film organizations are holding discussions with the Chief Minister on Monday.
